Miners are an advanced craft school that have no pre-requisite skill set to join, unlike most of the other prestige level craft schools. Miners are second to none in the gathering of inorganic resources such as metal, stone, and gems. They process the resources they acquire for preparation of usage within Istaria's varied and diverse crafting skills.
Miner Information[]
Miners have the highest non-organic gathering and processing skills that any other trade school. This makes them expert at processing raw non-organic resouces into processed resources, such as Gems, Metal and Stone. However, they level far more slowly than other trade schools (except for their organic counter-part, Gatherers) and thus take far longer to increase in level. For those with enough patience, they can be used to initially level up as Miner and then quickly gain experience for other classes that process the resources into finished goods, such as Blacksmiths, Scholars and Weaponsmiths.

Levelling Information[]
- Miners gain experience by processing raw materials into refined materials, such as Bronze Ore into Bronze Bars. Experience can also be gained by completing crafting quests, or consuming crystals. In general, crafting uncut gems into processed gems is the best method of leveling the Miner. This is because uncut gems are one of the lightest in-game resource, and you can therefore fit more in your pack/disk to craft. Because Miners have very high Quarrying and Gemworking skills, the Miner can quickly move between gem tiers as soon as they are able to.
Task/Training Quests[]
- Collection tasks require you to have the item collected in your inventory but do not require you to get the quest first. This means, for example, you can bring 200 Animal Hides to the trainer, get the quest, immediately do the turn in (Greet the trainer), get the quest again, do the turn in, and repeat twice more without moving from the trainer.
- Craft tasks require you to make the items after you get the quest. The best way to do this is to bring a load of the raw material to a trainer next to a refining machine, get the quest, make the item, greet the trainer (turn in), get the quest, and so on until the material is used up.
- Report tasks are delivery quests designed to show you where the Quartermasters are.
In general, crafting tasks are not as efficient as grinding gems/bars for experience. This is because the time taken to collect the resources and return to the task NPC does not provide as much experience per minute as does simply grinding the raw resources at the point of collection. This of course requires that a crafting station is located near the mining/quarrying site.
