Blighted Land is the process whereby the Withered Aegis invade the land of Istaria. A Blight Anchor is created by the necromancers of the undead, and the undead horde can then use this area as a staging post for assaults on the Living Races. The effect of the Blight Anchor on the land is terrible - the land dies within its sphere of influence. Visits to the land are enveloped in a cold, green mist which seems to eat away at their very soul. The Blighted Lands are most commonly called Deadlands, due to the fact that all they contain after the Blight gets them is death and misery.
